DOWNLOAD: Clubfeet – Edge of Extremes + remixes
Let me introduce you to Clubfeet, a five-piece band, made up of members from Melbourne, Australia and Cape Town, South Africa. The band released their debut album, “Gold On Gold”, in 2010 via Stretch Armstrong’s label Plant Music.
The group have now collaborated with Sydney-based videographer, Alex Goddard, to bring us a series of videos, covering every track off the album. The first track “Edge of Extremes” is a mystical indie pop-tronica number that generates a lot of imagery, to go with the music, from cover art, to the title and lyrics.
The song fuses a disco house groove with dreamy synths and breathy harmonies. The dry bass and drum tracks give the sound a live appeal. There is an obvious comparison that can be made here – the vocals bear a nonchalant, careless charm, similar to Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip).
“The single is remixed by New York’s burgeoning French Horn Rebellion, who take the dreamscape to another level; Gomma’s Munk from Munich, who keep true to the original with a subtle tweak for the floor; Plant Music’s own Miami native Danny Daze who gives it a ‘90s house work over; and finally, Urchins who turn up the electricity – taking it straight to the big room.”
