Himan AKA Julien Lacroix is from France. Blogs love Himan. I guess that is because he makes terrific music. Lacroix is currently kicking it in Australia, and with him he has brought his devastatingly handsome “Initial” EP, released on French label Folistar. A collection of romantic French house productions, some of which seem to have a 70s and 80s rock/power pop influence. “Donna” (feat. GDM) is a Floyd-esque power ballad, that rolls across the back of a sexy – yet sad – electric guitar lead. Perhaps its his French heritage, but Himan actually understands filter effects and sampling, unlike many others who fuck around with them like a 15 year old boy and a bra strap. This entire EP is really quite mind-blowing. Himan has been a breath of fresh air to his genre. Pure oxygen in fact.
