RECOMMENDED: Magnifik – Behaving Badly (Get Stellar remix)
Australian producer/dj/collaborator Ashley Feraude has had his Magnifik project swinging in 2011, including the unveiling of a live performance at Canberra’s Warehouse Festival (Deadmau5, Skrillex, Bag Raiders, Flight Facilities + more). Most recent has been the release of his “Behaving Badly” EP on Yes Yes Records, featuring remixes by Nightriders, Get Stellar, Peking Duk, Team Wing, and Diamond Lights. The original is a minimal, electronic soundscape that tells a story of its own, even without the lyrics. This is what really gets under my skin about the track. Feraude’s production here, is kind of like movements between shades of light and dark, if that makes sense at all, and textured with sonic nuances that remind me of water drops. The production collides with a gloomy, pop vocal styling, with the lucid, introspective lyrics of a person with a lot on their mind. I’m all about the imagery that is created by music, which has definitely been achieved here. Fantastic artwork too!
Get Stellar‘s take on this piece is an exciting house remix. The vocal sampled through a vocoder, and the low rumbling synth, really pushes this track into the big room. Check it out!
